So I'm walking home after a two and a half hour exam, and going through the music department I see a cleaner in there, just doing his job. I continue walking, but as I'm about four or so metres from the door, he sees me through the glass, smiles and holds open the door. This is such a basic gesture, but to add on, he's not even going through the door or anything, and he's on the opposite side, yet he opens it for me. I literally beamed and said 'thank you'. As I walked out there was only one thing in my mind: 'what a nice guy.'
Little things, while little, add up to big things. If you add little gestures that brighten people's day for even the slightest, it starts to add up. You're never know for being a nice person for being nice one time. You're recognised for being nice all the time. Open a door for someone, smile a bigger smile, pay for the guy behind you. Whatever it is, never stop doing the little things because they are little. A house is not built by one piece - but brick by brick.
