Working Higher

Natural talent may give us a boost, provide an easier path, but only hard work can give us the satisfaction we seek. A goal that is easily achieved gives little fulfillment for we know it took little from us to attain. However hard work spent should give us closure and satisfaction in failure or success. When you work on an experiment you finally will feel the comfort of a result when you've worked hard on it whether you experience a failure or not. You understand what you've done and know what not to do or how it doesn't work. You've learned. If you go read a book of primary knowledge that you've read before, it is easy but you have gained nothing, earned nothing.

See we all know what we're capable of. Though we may overestimate and underestimate ourselves, a goal achieved through hard work will always make us feel good about ourselves. A dumb man can feel the greatest pleasure in achieving average marks because he knows he has worked for something beyond his own reason. He is proud of his achievement because he has earned it and it has brought himself higher in the process. A smart man receiving average marks can only feel disappointed because he has stood idly and neglected all his potential. Those who underestimate themselves feel so great when they've been encouraged to do something that they believed they couldn't. They've gained something new about themselves and moreover heightened their confidence. Those who overestimate will learn the reality of their ability, but should not be ashamed of it because they learn of who and what they are.

However a lazy man will never work and therefore never experience the fruits of his labour. Nothing comes easy, and anything that comes easy is not fulfilling because it is not worth it. There is a tough road to travel towards personal success, but if we strive through the shaky road, ultimately we will reach the success that is at the end. Like I said, we all know what we're capable of. So we set a goal we know is within our reach because we understand that a bar set too high will lead us to disappointment and give us inevitable failure. So our goal is possible, we just have to work hard for it. Perhaps we need more confidence to set a higher goal because it could be within our reach. With hard work we will get there anyway because it will always extract out the best in us. So we'll beat our goal to the higher margin we should have set ourselves anyway.

Those who think natural ability can get them through life without work are fools. They will soon experience their limits to natural ability and be confused about what can take them higher. It's simple. Hard work; a way to bring results beyond our reach.
